How it Works

Selecting a game

To find the right game for you, take a look over the locations to choose the place you want to play the Case. Cases are limited to their location as they are a real world adventure and you need to explore the local area to find the clues.

If a case is in two parts, we'd always recommend part 1 first. It'll be slightly easier than the second part and will reveal vital information. Skipped to part 2 immediately? Be ready for spoilers as we will recap what you took away from the first part.

Tips on choosing the right case

  • Always check the case length - you'll need to make sure you have plenty of time to crack the case, so don't try and rush it, check the time it takes first. Each Case ID is valid for 24 hours unless otherwise stated, so you will have plenty of time to take in the sights.
  • Make sure you're ok to cover some ground - each case will give you an indication of the typical distance you'll travel whilst investigating.
  • You'll be able to select when you're playing if you want to take a wheelchair or pushchair friendly route. Most locations have this option, but in the event an alternative route is not available, we’ll let you know before purchase.

Playing a Curious Case

Your phone will be your primary tool for playing the game. There's nothing to install or download, just use the link provided upon purchase and enter a valid Case ID.

You can start at any time that suits you, there’s no restrictions. We would, however, recommend conducting any investigations in daylight hours, as some things are just harder to see when night falls.

The game will be your guide and also set you challenges to help you solve the case. Each time you are asked a question there are hints available to help you and it's not always essential to get everything correct, you'll be asked to try again if needed.

You gain points for correct answers, and you can always see how your score is progressing live in the game. When you complete a case your score will be shown in the leaderboard along with your chosen team name.

Tips for play

  • Charge your phone before you start, you’ll be accessing the screen a lot
  • Be ready for the outdoors. Very little of our case will be indoors so come prepared for the conditions on the day
  • Stay fuelled and hydrated. You can stop for drinks and snacks whenever you want. We’ll also recommend some stop offs which might help you on the route
